Josh

This is just now -- March 31, 2024 -- being fleshed out. I will have to get much more information from Josh and Kiri.

Submariner
Arianna was born in 2003 (need to confirm). I know that Josh was a full-time submariner by then, perhaps in his third or fourth year, living in San Diego, and then moving to South Carolina to be an instructor, before moving to New Hampshire and getting back to sea. He separated from the US Navy in 2009 to attend Harvard Business School.

So, I want to explore the history of USN submarine world between the years, let's say, 2001 and 2009.

If Josh was born in 1997, he would have been 24 years old in 2001. Joining the name in 1995, by 2001 he would have had six years in the USN -- perhaps four as an enlisted man and then then two years as an officer.

May and I first became acquainted with his submarine history when the family was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Let's begin with the USS Salt Lake City

My USAF career is defined by Bitburg AB, Germany, an F-15 air base when I was stationed there. For Josh, my hunch, his USN career is defined by his time with the Los Angeles-class submarine to which he was assigned in the 2009 - 2013 time frame, specifically, the USS Salt Lake City, SSN-716.
